Michigan Law Enforcement Associates (MLETA) was established to address the need for law enforcement legal training that is relevant to Michigan law enforcement professionals. MLETA training programs are created specifically for Michigan police professionals using the statutory and case law that is applicable to the State of Michigan. MLETA instructors are all Michigan lawyers with police experience.
Legal courses taught by instructors who are not Michigan lawyers should be avoided as counter-productive if they teach law that is outside that which encompasses the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Michigan Supreme Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Simply put, those are the only judicial rulings and opinions that are relevant for Michigan. That is why the lawyers at MLETA teach about the statutes, regulations and opinions that count for Michigan police professionals.
